She’s one of the most important Greek singers, an amazing ambassador for Greek music, and the only woman ambassador of Marathon in the world. She has a distinctive Dorian voice, is incredibly creative, emotional, and expressive! Her performances are unique, and her stage presence is truly unforgettable.

Alkistis first made her mark on the Greek music scene in the late 70s. Since then, she’s collaborated with some of the biggest names in Greek music, like Mikis Theodorakis, Stavros Xarhakos, Dimos Moutsis, Elias Andriopoulos, Stamatis Kraounakis, Nikos Antypas, Stefanos Korkolis, Giannis Spanos, Stamatis Spanoudakis, and even the world-renowned Goran Bregovic.

Her best-of albums have been released in Spain and Israel.

Alkistis has performed at some of the best ancient theatres in Greece, but she’s also had incredible shows in famous theatres all over the world, like the USA, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Egypt, Great Britain, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Turkey, Portugal, Switzerland, Cyprus, Israel, Lebanon, Romania, Russia, Sweden, Cyprus, South Africa, Kenya, and even China and Cuba!

Alkistis, who’s known as “Reina Griega,” believes that music knows no borders and loves to share Greek music and culture with the world.

Some of her most memorable concerts include her performances at the Metropolitan Museum and Radio City in New York, the Opera of Avana in Cuba, the theatre of The Forbidden Town in Beijing, and the Opera House of Kremlin in Moscow. And let’s not forget her performance at the Library of Alexandria!

Alkistis has performed with some of the world’s most famous orchestras, including the Symphonic Orchestra of Prague, the Boston Pops, the Oxford Philharmonic, the Kremlin Presidential Symphonic Orchestra, the Turkish Tekfen Symphony Orchestra for its 60th anniversary, the Symphony of the Municipality of Athens, and the State Symphony of Cyprus.

She’s also been featured in a few movies. She sang the main theme of the Italian film “Il colore dell Odio” and even lent her voice to the role of Esmaralda in the Disney film “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” In “Tangled,” she translated and played the demanding role of Gothel.

Alkistis also proudly carried the Olympic flame in the 2004 Athens Olympic torch relay and added some extra cheer to the closing ceremony of the Games. She even performed at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Special Olympics in 2010, singing the Anthem of the Special Olympics with the famous Italian tenor Vittorrio Grigolo.
